Legislation to Fix Gun Law is Passed

Ohio lawmakers have approved legislation correcting a gun law passed last year.

Republican Representative Phil Plummer yesterday said some weapons like rifles and shotguns were mistakenly added to the "dangerous ordnance" category....

"That is specifically for automatic weapons, sawed off firearms, explosive devices, rocket launchers items like that." -Plummer

The measure passed the House yesterday with a vote of 76 to 20. It passed the State Senate on Tuesday and will take effect immediately.

Democratic Representative Adam Miller says the process that pushed the measure through last year is partially to blame.

"We went through this so fast we had drafting errors, we had the spelling of the word ordinance incorrect at first, we had to correct that." -Miller
