A solar eclipse is set to take place on Monday, August 21, and a couple of viewing parties will be taking place in Chillicothe to help viewers savor the moment.

First, a viewing party will take place in the parking lot of Ohio University Chillicothe from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Physics Professor Dr. Michael Koop on hand to provide scientific and safety information on the eclipse process.

The Chillicothe-Ross Public Library will also hold a viewing party that afternoon. It begins at 2 p.m. at the Library Annex. They’ll have snow-cones available as well as celestial-themed stories and games for kids.
