Next Friday marks the one year anniversary of the traffic death of local attorney Annie Rooney, who was killed when a drunk driver slammed into her vehicle. State Representative Gary Scherer, of Circleville, has been working on a bill that would require convicted DUI offenders to have a breathalyzer device in their vehicle.
“We're working on (Annie's Law) through the summer while we're out of session," said Scherer. "It did receive, I think, four hearings in the judiciary committee - still some work to do on it."
Scherer said the state judicial conference is also requesting some changes in the bill and that he hopes to see it "getting passed out of committee into the House and over to the Senate when we come back in the fall."
