State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) has announced that the State Controlling Board recently approved several funding items to assist renovation projects throughout  the 92nd House District.

In Pickaway County, $96,411 in capital funds have been released in support of surveillance camera equipment upgrades at the Circleville Juvenile Corrections Facility.

The video surveillance system—which runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—essential for monitoring staff and youth activities. According to documents from the Office of Budget and Management, the capital funding will add 24 surveillance cameras throughout the Circleville facility in order to comply with new federal standards, and also include three additional DVRs, and other miscellaneous items.

Additionally, a total of $96,598 has been released to upgrade the fire alarm door locking system at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient.

In Ross County, the Controlling Board released $23,273 for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and transferred capital funds in the amount of $270,523 for a wastewater treatment plant upgrade project at the Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe.

The request is for design services to improve the biosolid processing method at the plant as well as Ohio Facilities Construction Commission fees associated with the project.

This wastewater treatment plant also services the Veteran’s Administration and Unioto Schools.
