[Ohio News Network]  A long-time annual event in southeast Ohio serves to educate kids entering kindergarten and first grade on basic safety concepts.

Stop, look, and listen - it's a message you'll hear a lot of children in Marietta reciting, as Safety Town kicked off its 37th year this week.

The two-week program - which lasts through June 26, and features a graduation at Marietta High School at the end - teaches children about fire, phone, road, and poison safety among other things.

Safety Town teachers say the "stop, look, and listen" slogan will help the kids become expert pedestrians.
