A fatal crash occurred approximately 1:19pm Saturday on State Route 104 just south of Boswell Run Road in Pike County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that 42-year-old Lisa Bell of Waverly was operating a 2004 Ford Taurus southbound on SR 104.  Mrs. Belt's vehicle traveled left of center and struck a northbound semi-tractor trailer driven by 56-year-old William Yates of Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Belt was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.  Her passengers, 16-year-old McKenzie Fredrick and 12-year-old Karen Stuckey, both of Waverly were also injured.  McKenzie was transported to Pike Adena and Karen was flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.  Both juvenile passengers’ injuries are unknown at this time.

Mr. Yates was operating a 2002 Freightliner northbound on SR 104 at the time of the crash.  After the collision the semi-tractor trailer partially overturned onto the guardrail and into the power lines.  Mr. Yates was not injured.

Twp. Fire/EMS, Pike County Sheriff Office, Pike County Prosecutor, Pike County Coroner, ODOT, OSHP, and AEP were all on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.

In a separate accident in Ross County, an 11-year-old boy was flown by Air Evac Helicopter to an area hospital following an ATV crash near Massieville. The child suffered what appeared to be a fracture to one of his legs.
