A Columbus man, who hasn't been seen since Tuesday, is believed to have gone missing in Chillicothe.

Jeffrey Brown, 50, was staying with his sister on the north side of Columbus. He has mental issues and moved to Ohio with her about seven months ago from Texas when their father died.

"He is prescribed anti-psychotic drugs and as of late has been off of them, refusing to take them," said Lt. Mike Preston with the Ross County Sheriff's Office.

Brown's sister had installed a tracking app on his cell phone and traced him to Chillicothe. She found the phone, his bicycle, and a backpack near the Main Street Bridge east of Chillicothe.

"The backpack had, according to the sister, most of the personal belongings that would have taken with him," said Preston.

Brown is described as a while man standing 5'11" and weighing 150 pounds with a slim build. He also has short brown hair and brown eyes.

"We ran boats up and down the river. We had the volunteer fire departments searching the wooded areas on ATV and we were also searching on foot," Preston said.

Nothing was found as of nightfall and the search was suspended until daybreak. Preston says they'll continue to patrol the area.

Brown didn't like the weather in Ohio and may have been trying to head south. Preston says it's likely that Brown rode his bike from Columbus. The bike had a flat front tire, which could be one reason Brown stopped in Chillicothe. He has no known ties to the area.

Anyone with information about Brown’s location should call the Ross County Sheriff’s Department, the Chillicothe Police Department or the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
