March is Developmental Disabilities Month and the Pioneer Center is commemorating that fact with various activities over the next few weeks to highlight the services they offer for special needs individuals.

Superintendent Rick Marriott says Ohio started to acknowledge the disability with construction of asylums in the 1800's.

Institutionalized care for developmental disabilities lasted for over 70 years, before that started to change for the better in the 1940's, with more special needs individuals getting special education attention and staying at home with their families.
