A new local charitable group has become the target of thieves, joining the list of churches and other non-profits that are reporting recent break-ins.

United Way of Ross County has confirmed that their East Second Street office in Chillicothe was broken into and ransacked overnight.

Execeutive Director Mary Elsass says they discovered the break-in when they opened for the day Wednesday, and says a laptop and a small amount of cash was taken.

United Way is in the midst of their annual campaign drive to raise over half-million dollars for local non-profit groups.
