The Second Annual Chillicothe Celebrates will focus on the impact the Ohio-Erie Canal had on Ohio's first capital, when it is held July 12th-13th.
It didn't take long for that impact to be felt after the Chillicothe Canal section opened in 1831, in the Spring following the opening of the Canal the export of cattle of cattle and hogs was $1.5 million dollars.
Throughout the two day event there will be lectures, entertainment, tours, demonstrations, a barbershop quartet, a butterfly release at the canal gardens and many other activities.
The event will run from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. both days.
